Gordon Parks Arts Hall

In 2015, construction finished on the 90k sq. ft. Gordon Parks Arts Hall educational center at the University of Chicago.
Classes at the facility will blend multiple scholastic disciplines into its teaching curriculum. Aiming to produce only the brightest future engineers, architects, and artists, this projects was realized by General Contractor Lendlease and Main Architect Valerio Dewalt Train Associates.

Features

  • The building’s exterior is limited to five materials. Exposed concrete frame, VS-1 glass curtain-wall, metal panels, metal roof decking, and limestone facade.
  • The building includes new studios and rehearsal spaces, and has allowed Lab to offer new courses in filmmaking, thanks to a dedicated digital media lab.
  • 250-seat Sherry Lansing Theater, 150-seat drama studio, 700-seat assembly hall
  • Four art studios and specially outfitted spaces for music practice and performance, photography and digital facilities
