Sara Chamberlain leads venture investment activity for Energy Foundry, an early-stage venture fund based in Chicago.  She was instrumental in founding the high-profile fund, and she is the backbone of driving forward the firm and its endeavors.  This includes taking a leading role in the firm’s investments, which have gone on to raise over $100 million in additional capital and contracts.   She sits on the Board of SiNode Systems, Advanced Diamond Technologies, Tank Utility and Omnidian, and maintains an active role with each of the firm’s portfolio companies.

Prior to Energy Foundry, Sara built a government advisory practice at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati and helped energy startups raise $300M in non-dilutive funding.  Over the course of three years, she advised more than 300 startup companies in how their business objectives align with available funding and energy strategies at the Department of Energy, Department of Defense and Department of Agriculture. She has also held roles with GE Energy and environmental consulting firm, GaiaTech.

Sara is also a recognized thought leader in the industry.  She is on the Investment Committee for Clean Energy Trust, sits on the Advisory Board for Advanced Energy Group and the Midwest Cleantech Open, and supports a half dozen other organizations in business plan competitions, conferences, and student programming.  She provides business model feedback to 100+ companies each year, and co-manages Energy Foundry’s Entrepreneur-In-Residence program, which enables accomplished entrepreneurs to establish their next venture.   Sara is a frequent speaker at industry events on energy, innovation and new venture formation. She and her work have been featured in numerous media outlets including Entrepreneur, Forbes, Crain’s, the Chicago Tribune, the Chicago Sun-Times and Greentech Media. In 2015, she was recognized by Midwest Energy News “40 Under 40.”

Sara holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and an undergraduate degree from Emory University.
