Noteworthy Findings

  • As a tech specialty area, Prefabrication Design Solutions earned moderate satisfaction ratings (6.4 / 10), meaning users are generally happy with this technology.
  • The average functional use ratings varied for the six categories surveyed — ’Ease of Use’ ranked lowest with a rating of 5.0 / 10, while ‘Optimizing the Production of Prefabricated Components’ was highest at 8.1 / 10. So, although respondents are generally happy, there is a fair amount of variance from functionality to functionality.
  • Prefab design solutions are leveraged by companies of all sizes, but they are most commonly adopted by large contractors (GCs accounting for 63.6% and specialty contractors the remaining 36.4%)
  • When performing offsite construction, these technologies are critical for teams to stay on schedule, reduce waste, optimize transportation logistics, and build more sustainably, ultimately resulting in a higher-quality product
    • Despite their efficacy, only 7.7% of survey respondents reported using one for every project.
    • However, 46.2% are testing on a few projects which is promising in terms of continued adoption moving forward.
