Sacramento Smart City Initiative
Mayor Darrell Steinberg and the City of Sacramento announced in 2017 a plan to create a public-private partnership designed to bring smart city infrastructure and services to people who live, work or visit the Capitol City.
Location: Sacramento, CA
Project Size: N/A
Completion Date: June 2017
The proposed partnership between the City of Sacramento and Verizon will bring free wifi to Sacramento’s public parks, implement traffic management solutions to reduce congestion, improve public safety, and reduce carbon emissions, and promote increased connectivity between the city’s neighborhoods. Verizon’s smart city solutions will deliver a safer, more mobile and more sustainable city by providing private-sector infrastructure investment, technology and implementation expertise as well as streamlined permitting processes to install this technology efficiently.
