The Mies Crown Hall Americas Prize (MCHAP), founded in 2012 at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, is a biennial award recognizing architectural excellence across the Americas. MCHAP defines excellence holistically—celebrating built works that integrate natural, built, and human ecologies to enhance quality of life.
More than a prize, MCHAP is a platform for dialogue among architects, students, practitioners, and the public, fostering critical conversations through events, symposia, studios, and publications. Internationally, it connects North and South America, showcasing the region’s architectural ingenuity and promoting global cultural exchange. Locally, it extends Chicago’s legacy of modernist innovation and civic engagement, enriching IIT’s College of Architecture through global collaboration and research.
