BuiltWorlds partners with The Linux Foundation to improve tech education in the built industries

Chicago, IL (July 6, 2017) – BuiltWorlds, a community and network for forward-thinking leaders in the built environment (architecture, engineering, construction, real estate, and other buildings and infrastructure-related industries), has partnered with The Linux Foundation, a non-profit organization helping enable mass innovation through open source, as an Affiliate Partner vendor.

Through the partnership, BuiltWorlds and The Linux Foundation will join forces to expand innovation efforts in the built environment. BuiltWorlds will be offering its community The Linux Foundation’s educational opportunities and certifications on topics such as Linux System Administration and OpenStack Administration.

The partnership is timely. Technology education is even more crucial to the workforce today than ever before — 65 percent of hiring managers say open source hiring will rise more than hiring in other parts of their business over the next six months, according to a 2016 Linux Foundation report on the Rising Need for Open Source Skills.

“We’re very excited for this new relationship with The Linux Foundation,” said Jed Levenstein, Director of Operations at BuiltWorlds. “BuiltWorlds’ network of built environment professionals is a perfect match for the technological mission of The Linux Foundation. As technology grows in the AEC industry, it’s important to give individuals the opportunity to improve and grow their skills in open source technologies.”
