CHICAGO (Oct. 26, 2017) – BuiltWorlds, a community and network for forward-thinking leaders in the built environment (architecture, engineering, construction, real estate, and other buildings and infrastructure-related industries), is launching a strategic alliance with Northwestern University, a private research university based in Evanston, IL, with campuses in Chicago and Doha, Qatar.
BuiltWorlds will work closely with Northwestern’s Master of Project Management (MPM) and Executive Management for Design and Construction (EMDC) programs during their partnership.
As an association partner of BuiltWorlds, Northwestern will be a sponsor and key participant of four BuiltWorlds conferences, including Future Workforce in December, Machines in May 2018, Projects in June 2018, and Buildings 2.0 in July 2018. MPM Associate Director and Civil Engineering Professor Ahmad Hadavi will be a panelist at the Future Workforce conference.
“We are excited to strengthen our relationship with Northwestern’s MPM and EMDC programs,” said Jed Levenstein, BuiltWorlds Director of Operations. “We expect to learn a lot from their students and faculty as they attend our events and engage with our community. Our community will no doubt share invaluable real world insights and experiences from the field in return.”
“We view this partnership as a win-win opportunity for both organizations,” said Professor Raymond Krizek, who is the director of both the MPM and EMDC programs. “Our two professional MS programs bring to the table a 25-year history of attracting some of the brightest young engineers and architects from more than 50 countries throughout the world. These individuals and our adjunct faculty of more than 40 leading practitioners can both contribute to the objectives of BuiltWorlds and benefit from the excellent promotional activities and networking resources that BuiltWorlds has to offer.”
Although BuiltWorlds has previously engaged with Northwestern and other university programs in the past, Northwestern is the first university to come on as an associate partner.
“It’s important for us to help cultivate the next generation of industry leaders,” said Levenstein. “We’ve enjoyed working with engineering, construction management, and other university-level programs in the past by serving as an industry expert for a capstone class, judging student contests, or covering key events. This partnership with Northwestern’s MPM and EMDC degrees takes it to the next level.”
“This alliance establishes the basis for a strong bond between BuiltWorlds as a forward-looking company that promotes new technology and advancements in building design and construction and the Northwestern University MPM and EMDC programs that educate a new breed of managers and executives who are equipped with the latest state-of-knowledge to move the industry forward,” said Professor Hadavi.
As part of the partnership, BuiltWorlds will also film two videos to highlight the work being done by faculty and students in each program.
