About World Business Chicago

A not-for-profit economic development organization led by President & CEO Jeff Malehorn, and chaired by Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, World Business Chicago advances the citys position as a thriving location for business and accelerates economic growth. As a public-private partnership between the City and its business community, WBCs Board of Directors is composed of prominent leaders who guide the progression of Chicagos business environment. WBC is responsible for the implementation of Chicagos Plan for Economic Growth and Jobs, a coordinated effort to assess and expand Chicago’s economy. Chicago Sister Cities International (CSCI) is also part of WBC. CSCI promotes Chicago as a global city, develops international partnerships and networks, and shares best practices with its 28 Sister Cities, located in almost every region of the world. WBC is also home to the ChicagoNEXT council of technology leaders, a dedicated effort to drive business growth and opportunity in science, innovation and technology entrepreneurship WBCs staff navigates the site selection process for companies by providing economic and industry data, state and local incentive information, and bringing together key parties to spur economic growth. As a liaison between the public and private sectors, WBC works closely with the City, and State, in addition to numerous other partner organizations throughout the region.
