KEY INSIGHTS:
Diesel remains the dominant fuel source for large construction equipment, with 54% of surveyed organizations reporting that all or most of their large equipment still runs on diesel.
Lack of jobsite infrastructure is the single biggest barrier to alternative fuel adoption, cited by 48% of organizations, followed by the cost of alternative fuels and the cost of replacing diesel-dependent equipment fleets, each at 33%.
Battery-powered and electric equipment are the most commonly adopted alternatives at 15% and 11% respectively, while hydrogen, HVO, and synthetic fuels have yet to gain any measurable traction among surveyed organizations.
