On the October 19th Analyst Call titled ‘Advances in Preconstruction Technology,” BuiltWorlds Director Tyler Sewall was joined by Clifton Harness, Co-Founder and CEO of TestFit, and Stewart Carroll, President of Beck Technology. The call focused on technology used during preconstruction or “to the left of the project timeline”, integrating with other industry players, and future opportunities in the industry.
The call opened with Stewart and Clifton providing background on their companies before describing their journey to the preconstruction space. Ultimately, the two saw an opportunity to create value and address pain points caused by a lack of automation. Sewall then presented BuiltWorlds Benchmarking data depicting the low levels of adoption for Project Modeling & Simulation and Estimating solutions, respectively. Although low adoption rates come as no surprise, Clifton and Stewart both preached optimism for the future. Stewart discussed Beck’s pragmatic approach: “I don’t want to boil the ocean, it’s about breadcrumbs. Baby steps are what lead to innovation and automation.”
