BuiltWorlds Conversations: Technology in Education, Developing and Incorporating Digital Twins, and the Most Exciting Trends Surrounding AEC Startups

In this special installment of BuiltWorlds Conversations, we sat down Dr. David Gerber, professor of practice at both the University of Southern California’s Viterbi School of Engineering as well as its School of Architecture, whose impressive resume includes advanced degrees from both the Design Research Laboratory of the Architectural Association in London and Harvard University. He’s worked for architectural, engineering and technology practices in the US, Europe, and Asia. And his prolific research has helped in the development of innovative systems, tools, and methods for design of the built environment.

In our discussion, Gerber walks us through his approach to educating and guiding future AEC industry leaders, including how he incorporates technology and innovation, at large. He shares with us details about both his research into digital twins and the advisory work he does with startups as part of USC’s Viterbi Startup Garage. We end the conversation by learning what trends in the industry’s startup ecosystem have him most excited.
