“Imagine it’s 5:30 in the morning and you’re pulling into the supply house parking lot so you can beat the rush,” Matterhaul Founder and CEO Shawn Razek said, setting the scene in his winning pitch at the Venture West Demo Day competition. “You get inside… but the counter sales rep can’t find your order. They’re sifting through the ERP, they’re looking through communications logs. They’re looking through all these different systems and, all of a sudden, you blew half your morning just to get your material.”
According to Razek, this isn’t a made-up scenario, but instead one he saw his father and uncle live out time and time again as HVAC and roofing professionals. This experience, combined with over fifteen years in construction and real estate, led Rezak to found Matterhaul, an AI-powered operating system designed specifically for industrial supply, distribution, and manufacturing.
In one of the tightest scoring BuiltWorlds Demo Day competitions ever, Razek took home the top prize last week in San Francisco, impressing the judges with the company’s solution that aims to unify disjointed project data through an Intelligent Data Layer that builds AI-enabled workflows.
