2026 Construction Tech Award Winners Announced

The annual Construction Tech Awards—a combination of the Contractor’s Choice Awards and Tech Excellence Awards—celebrate the advancement and application of innovation throughout the global built environment across four categories: Preconstruction, Project Software, Field Solutions, and Equipment & Robotics. This year’s winners were announced at the 2026 Construction Tech Conference held in Chicago.

Contactor’s Choice Awards

The Contractor’s Choice Awards recognize the technology solutions with which contractors are finding the most success. Derived from user feedback collected via our benchmarking surveys, our finalists represent the Top Solutions (i.e., the most implemented and top rated solutions based on criteria specific to the general use case) identified in each category and subcategory. For example, our Preconstruction category includes Top Solutions for Estimating, Scheduling, Prequalification, Bid Management, Procurement and Contract Management. Each category includes a number of subcategories.

Those Top Solutions are ultimately judged against one another within a given category, with the highest overall rated technology being selected as our Contractor’s Choice Award recipient. These are our winners by category.

Preconstruction: BuildingConnected (Autodesk)

Reasoning: Adopted by 45% of surveyed companies for bid management, BuildingConnected received particularly strong marks for both team adoption and utilization (8.4/10) and overall ease of use (8.2/10) – the highest ratings among all evaluated platforms. More than 80% of users believe the solution delivers value relative to its cost, while the remaining 18% are undecided.

Project Software: Autodesk Forma

Reasoning: With solutions holding the top implementation spot in 3 of the 5 project software categories analyzed, Autodesk Forma emerged as contractors’ most widely adopted project software suite. Respondents gave particularly strong evaluations to the usability and interoperability of Autodesk solutions, including Autodesk BIM 360 and Autodesk Revit in the BIM and digital modeling category, as well as Autodesk Construction Cloud in the document management and project management categories.

Field Solutions: DroneDeploy

Reasoning: Adopted by nearly a third of responding organizations engaging in reality capture activities, DroneDeploy was also the highest-evaluated solution in the reality capture software category, with particularly strong marks for ease of use and progress tracking. Its platform spans DroneDeploy Aerial for drone mapping and analytics and DroneDeploy Ground for 360° photo walks, mobile capture, and AI-powered site documentation organized on floor plans and BIM, supporting integrated aerial and ground-level workflows from site-wide imagery to interior progress capture.

Equipment & Robotics: FieldAI

Reasoning: FieldAI was adopted by a third of organizations that regularly use or have trialed robotic solutions on jobsites, earning strong evaluations from contractors headquartered across the US, Europe, and Asia. Contractors rated FieldAI highly for overall adoption and ease of use, as well as for its ability to integrate data with existing software systems.

Tech Excellence Awards

The Tech Excellence Awards recognize excellence in technology adoption and implementation among contractors. Derived from the same user feedback (provided via our benchmarking surveys) that inform the Contractor’s Choice Awards, our finalist represent the Digital Leaders (i.e., contractor’s with the most effective self-reported technology strategies for adoption and implementation across the highest variety of technology subcategories) of any given category. Each category only has two Digital Leaders.

The Digital Leaders are ultimately judged against one another by category, with the top performing contractor being selected as our Tech Excellence Award recipient. These are our winners by category.

Preconstruction: Zachry Construction

Reasoning: Zachry had above-average evaluations for most of their preconstruction technologies, with particularly strong evaluations of their estimating and scheduling processes. Additionally, they are piloting solutions in mutliple areas across preconstruction.

Project Software: Ellisdon

Reasoning: EllisDon’s evaluations of its diverse project software tech stack scored above the industry average across all surveyed categories. Respondents also noted that the company is piloting additional solutions within the project management and operations space, signaling continued investment in expanding and refining its technology ecosystem.

Field Solutions: Kajima

Reasoning: Kajima reported using a mix of field solutions across the five surveyed categories, including Japanese-built tools, global field platforms, and internally developed systems. Across these solutions, Kajima’s average ratings exceeded the industry benchmark in most areas, with particularly strong performance in workforce management and reality capture technologies.

Equipment & Robotics: DPR Construction

Reasoning: DPR demonstrates clear excellence in equipment and robotics adoption, reflecting a comprehensive and forward-looking approach to operational technology. The company has embraced fleet management solutions to optimize equipment utilization and oversight, alongside a strong commitment to electric machinery that aligns with broader sustainability goals. Beyond these foundational investments, DPR shows active engagement with robotics through both regular use and pilot programs spanning multiple distinct solutions. Combined with an indicated interest in future autonomous equipment usage, this positions DPR as a leader in equipment advancements and robotics innovation.
