Analyst Call: Sustainable Building Products and Materials

The construction industry has historically been one of the largest global contributors of carbon emissions. Buildings are currently responsible for 70% of Chicago’s carbon emissions and 40% nationwide. Cement, steel, and aluminum now account for more emissions than cars. This environmental footprint has led to a push towards sustainability throughout all facets of the industry.

Javier Castaneda, Director of Engineering and Horizontal Construction Technology at BuiltWorlds, led today’s analyst call discussing sustainable building products and materials alongside Gene Eidelman, Co-Founder of Azure Printed Homes, Stephen Forte, CEO of The BuildClub, and Tommy Linstroth, CEO of Green Badger

The diversity of represented companies allowed for a variety of perspectives from all phases of the building process. Focusing on the build phase, Azure Printed Homes introduces a sustainable building method through 3D printing and recycled PETG material (recycled plastic from food and drink containers). The BuildClub, a digital materials marketplace, cleans up the supply chain by reducing miles driven for procurement and adopting an electric delivery fleet. Finally, Green Badger leverages data analytics to assist contractors in their LEED compliance by choosing affordable low-carbon materials.
