While contractors’ sentiment toward field solutions technologies remains generally positive, the 2025 survey reveals signs of shifting expectations. Notably, no contractors rated their overall field tech stack as “excellent,” and a few gave “poor” ratings. This suggests that expectations are rising and some are encountering challenges with implementation or performance.

As the industry reevaluates how these tools are deployed and supported, five key takeaways stand out from this year’s report:
Workforce Tech Adoption Grows Slowly Despite Ongoing Labor Challenges
Survey results show that workforce management solutions are gaining some traction, with just over a third (36%) of organizations using them extensively across nearly all projects in 2025. However, overall adoption is up by only 3% since 2024. This indicates a small but growing recognition of their value in addressing labor inefficiencies and improving workforce planning. However, nearly one-third of respondents either have not adopted these tools or are unsure of their usage, highlighting ongoing challenges related to integration, cost or awareness.
This uneven adoption suggests a critical opportunity for both solution providers and industry leaders to bridge the gap by promoting education, support and scalable implementation strategies. Broader adoption could play a key role in helping the industry better navigate the persistent labor shortage.
For Reality Capture, Contractors Favor Flexibility
Most contractors prefer a mix-and-match approach to hardware and software providers, prioritizing flexibility and best-in-class tools over all-in-one solution providers, while only a small minority rely on in-house systems for data analysis.

Reality capture tools have moved beyond pilot phases, with widespread and consistent use now becoming the norm across construction projects. In 2025, a large majority (76%) of general contractors report using reality capture software with some regularity, with nearly a quarter implementing it on every project.
Widespread Adoption of Site Management Tools Marks a Turning Point
Adoption of site logistics and site management solutions is gaining significant momentum in 2025 with 48% of contractors reporting usage on most or every project. This marks a clear move beyond early-stage experimentation and indicates that these tools are becoming a regular part of jobsite operations. Less than a third of contractors have yet to implement them, pointing to broader industry acceptance.
Between 2024 and 2025, the shift from pilot programs to more consistent use is especially telling. The percentage of contractors piloting solutions dropped from 21.2% to 8%, while those using them on most projects increased from 6% to over 25%. These trends signal growing confidence in the technology and greater integration into day-to-day workflows.
Most Contractors Still Exploring Tools Management Solutions
In 2025, tools management solutions are seeing increased interest, with two-thirds of contractors either piloting solutions or using them on several projects. Compared to 2024, fewer firms report no adoption at all, reflecting a clear shift toward early-stage implementation and active exploration, although full-scale adoption remains limited. Respondents identified the use of five distinct tools management solution providers, highlighting growing vendor engagement in this space, but industry average ratings remain low.
