Project Details
Leapley Construction earned LEED Gold certification on a commercial interior refit project in Atlanta, GA, and used Green Badger's software to automate and simplify the LEED process. The project involved the complete renovation of the top four floors of a 12-story building for a financial technology company in 2022 and 2023. It addressed challenges such as limited workspace, waste removal logistics in a compressed urban site, and the integration of sustainable building practices. The project's success was attributed to the team's collaborative 'all-in' attitude towards LEED goals, the use of Green Badger's software and consulting services for efficient waste diversion and material selection, and the commitment to incorporating sustainable design elements like green walls and native plants.
Objectives
Leapley selected Green Badger to help manage the documentation needed to successfully achieve LEED certification and to provide active progress monitoring.
- Manage and track waste diversion metrics to ensure LEED goals were on pace
- Promote Stakeholder Collaboration
- Meeting Credit Goals
- Submittal Process
Outcomes
Using Green Badger, Leapley saved the project team valuable time and helped identify hurdles to achieving goals, preempting problems, and ensuring the needed sustainability metrics were met or exceeded.
- Identified Phase I waste diversion results were not on pace to meet goals and worked with haulers and recyclers to fix the issue before it was too late
- The project received LEED Gold certification with the help of Green Badger's LEED Project Software and consulting services
"It's tough to manage all those different parts… but Green Badger’s platform caught the issue(s) very early and enabled us to achieve the credit we needed." Erin Siller, RID, IIDA, WELL AP - Project Manager at Leapley Construction

BuiltWorlds Analysis
The construction industry is increasingly utilizing dedicated software solutions to track and report on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) metrics, especially as it works toward certifications such as WELL, LEED, BREEAM, and others. These certifications emphasize sustainability, energy efficiency, health, and overall ESG compliance, making such solutions highly valuable tools for achieving these goals.
However, as seen in BuiltWorlds' 2024 Sustainable Jobsites Benchmarking Report, ESG Compliance Tracking & Reporting Solutions are not yet household solutions in contractors' tech stacks. In fact, 41% of respondents have yet to implement a solution. Despite that, there is a clear uptick in interest for solutions, especially as organizations look to move away from tracking information in Excel and realizing the potential of their data.
