BIM, Design and Planning for Infrastructure has long been underway to have open and transferrable file formats for the government and public sector stakeholders to manage for their projects.  These government and public sector stakeholders need to know the best options for available tools that will be transferrable, secure, and sustainable for the life of projects that often last longer than the teams involved in their initial creation.  Additionally, the modeling and planning techniques used for roads and bridges can be transferred to other multimodal transportation and infrastructure projects like rail, ports, and more.
