AEC Industry CEO Forum

2025 Annual Meeting

When

4.15.2025 - 4.16.2025

Where

RPM Events 317 N Clark St Chicago,

The BuiltWorlds CEO Forum is an exclusive, high-level and interactive meeting of buildings and infrastructure leadership peers. Since hosting the first CEO Tech Forum in 2016, the AEC industry has witnessed a tectonic shift in the role of technology fueled by billions of dollars in venture and private equity investment. Once a function delegated to IT, technology is now permeating all aspects of business in the sector, impacting businesses at a strategic level, and increasingly dividing the industry between leaders and laggards.

In order to survive and thrive in this changing world, it is imperative for CEOs to understand the landscape and to be able to adapt their organizations effectively in the face of disruption.

Limited to 40 executives, this year's Forum offers a unique opportunity for three cohorts made up of senior executives from the global leaders, mid-sized company CEOs, and emerging tech company leaders to learn from each other in specialized tracks as well as broader group sessions.

Discussion Session #3a: Leveraging Climate Data and Analytics to Get “Ahead of the Storm"

Global natural disasters in 2024 resulted in $368 billion of economic losses globally, primarily driven by tropical cyclones, severe convective storms and floods. Only $145 billion, or 40%, of this loss was insured. Increases in exposure, such as more people and higher value properties located in harm’s way, continue to explain much of the rising losses. Stakeholders in built environment sector—contractors, developers, owners, investors, lenders, engineers and architects—all play a critical role in advancing resilience to curtail natural disaster losses going forward. This session will highlight readily-available data and analytics to assess physical climate risks, as well as opportunities to advance adaptation and resilience (A&R) action. Global infrastructure investment need is projected to reach $94 trillion by 2040 to keep pace with economic and demographic changes, and to close infrastructure gaps. Ensuring that this infrastructure is built in a sustainable and resilient way is critical for an insurable and investable future.
