Project Details

Redden Concrete had issues with timliness and accuracy of its labor tracking in the field which led their team to implement WorkMax. The efficiency, performance and savings from the implementation were tracked over the first year of usage.

Objectives

Primary objective

  • The objective of implementing WorkMax was to reduce reporting delays, miscommunications and reduce material waste and costs. With their outdated processes and systems Redden concrete was running into issues where material needs were transmitted by hand, email or text that resulted in an organized system and where orders got lost.

Outcomes

Primary outcome

  • WorkMax allowed Redden concrete to receive the information in real time which not only benefited the team by expediting the material requests, but that time allowed Redden concrete to price match and negotiate more favorable pricing deals with suppliers. Auto-generated reports removed administrative bloat from their internal staff, and supplier invoices could be reconciled the day of the pour. These advantages coupled with the efficiency gained in the WorkMax FORMS for hazard analysis and the mechanic request and completion forms created significant cost savings. Redden concrete estimates that it saved over $800,000 dollars in a calendar year from its $30,000 investment in WorkMax.

Next Steps & Future Use

Redden concrete is continuing to invest further in WorkMax and automating additional workstreams in the business to push their efficiencies even higher. Redden Concrete’s goal is to keep improving their field data collection processes to build company wide efficiency, productivity and cost savings.

BuiltWorlds Analysis

The importance of workforce management solutions is becoming increasingly evident, especially as the industry grapples with labor shortages across most markets. While not as ubiquitous as project management software, over 52% of respondents have implemented a workforce management solution in at least a portion of their portfolio of projects. With 75% of respondents in agreement that these solutions have provided value, as in this case with Redden Concrete, the growth and utilization of Workforce Management solutions will only continue to grow.
