Atlas, developed by Gridsmart Technologies, solved Hamilton’s transportation and safety challenges quickly and without requiring costly, new infrastructure. ATLAS provided the means to share imagery from about 70 existing Gridsmart and IP-based cameras via web browser with the traffic, fire, and police departments. Traffic engineers used the dynamic, time-lapse delivered by Atlas to monitor and manage the fans’ travel experiences. Real time deliver allowed the departments to quickly assess traffic patterns and adapt to changing condition to prevent gridlock. Atlas shared situational awareness with traffic, fire, and police to help the city provide a safer and more reliable transportation network.
