The City of San Diego is partnering with GE to to build the world’s largest municipal internet-of-things network. As the first city to pilot GE’s smart cities platform, San Diego will benefit from sensored street lighting, traffic monitoring, smart parking management, and more. With openly available IoT data and a strong public engagement process, GE and the city of San Diego are leaning heavily on their citizens for input throughout the process. “[The partnership with GE] can help us connect us to our citizens, to provide a future where we’re able to better understand our neighborhoods and give them the services that they want.” - David Graham, San Diego Deputy Chief Operating Officer
