Earlier this year, during Chicago’s first-ever AEC Hackathon, we had the opportunity to sit down with two accomplished industry figures who have since added to their fame by joining architect Peter Ellis as lead advisors on our new SmartWorlds Initiative, launched by BuiltWorlds on June 5. This spring, we sat down with both John Tolva, president of Chicago-based PositivEnergy Practice, and Paul Doherty, CEO of The Digit Group. Our conversation ranged from the current state of urban planning and population trends to economic forecasting and what role IoT may play in the cities of tomorrow.

Future Mobility will be the next in our series of SmartWorlds events, set for July 23rd and featuring Tesla and DIVVY. That night, the focus will be on projected transportation needs and the emerging technologies that hopefully will be able to satisfy them. From intra-urban transit to unmanned vehicles, and wild ideas like the Hyperloop pneumatic tube for commuters, tomorrow may belong to the dreamers. Below, see what two dreamers with ‘street cred’ had to say about their visions of our AEC future.
