Timeless façade design not only integrates seamlessly within a given context, but considers vital sustainability strategies such as the use of low-carbon materials, enhanced solar protection, thermal comfort, and natural ventilation. The LEED Platinum DCPL Southwest Library is a unique dowel-laminated mass timber structure with a distinctive folded roof and an emphasis on connection to the surrounding community. Carl Knutson and Aida Wiebke presented this award-winning project at our 2024 Offsite Construction Conference, demonstrating the success of integrating the design and construction of prefabricating numerous components of the building from the facade to the structure itself.
