Analyst Call: Mitigating Supply Chain, Inflation, & Sustainability Risks with Modular Construction

The Modularization & Prefabrication: Mitigating Supply Chain, Inflation, and Sustainability Risks with Modular Construction Analyst Call on Wednesday, December 14th was hosted by BuiltWorlds’ Tyler Sewall and featured Curtis Wong, CEO/Founder of Cloud Apartments, Curtis Fletcher, Co-Founder and CSO of Prefab Logic, and Justin Schwaiger, Director of Customer Success at Manufacton.

Sewall and the guest speakers began by distinguishing between the nuances of the different types of modularization and prefabrication – such as volumetric modularization, panelization, and kit-of-parts. Wong, Fletcher, and Schwaiger all agreed that the traditional construction process is inefficient and costly. For the sake of cost and schedule efficiency, they believe that new-age modularization and prefabrication techniques are the industry’s best bet. Cloud Apartments, for example, develops volumetric modularization to create standardized rooms that can be mass produced in factories and shipped out to be installed in apartment buildings. Fletcher mentioned that this works well with the current labor shortage, as these modules can be created in factories through the use of robotics – reducing the labor needed at the job-site.

Schwaiger commented on how modularization and prefabrication can drive sustainability from both an environmental and…
