At our 2023 Buildings Conference Demo Day Competition we were treated to some brilliant startups pitching their ideas to our panel of judges. Zach Kaplan, CEO of Inventables delivered his pitch for this startup that focuses on what Zach calls, “Collaborative Digital Carpentry”. Inventables is the hardware store for designers. The company is attempting to bring manufacturing from the factory to the desktop making it as accessible as desktop publishing. Inventables sells machines and supplies for small business manufactures to make products ranging from jewelry and signs to furniture. Each day customers select from a catalog of 30,000 products most of which if ordered by 3pm are shipped same day.
Zach saw an opportunity during the pandemic which caused labor shortages, supply chain issues, as well as an unclear economic outlook to launch Inventables during a time in which many homeowners were remodeling their kitchens and bathroom. Inventables uses 3D modeling technology and can custom print cabinetry that can easily be delivered directly to contractors who are working on homes.
