On the 8-24-22 analyst call titled “The Infrastructure Pivot”, Dan Laboe and Javier Castaneda from the BuiltWorlds team led a strategic conversation alongside Matthew Shackelford of Touchdown Ventures and Nick Durham of Shadow Ventures intended to break down the newly minted $1.2T federal infrastructure package.
“Our critical infrastructure is failing in the US. When you look at the next decade, I don’t see any other way forward than to look to technology, robots, whatever it may be… There’s only one way to fill the gap and that’s entrepreneurs building great solutions.”
Nick began the conversation with a powerful message about how critical technology is to improving infrastructure across the country. No matter how much money we allocate to construction, there exists a finite amount of resources to design, furnish, and construct the built world.
While not in direct conflict with Nick, Matt provided a more holistic view of technology-aided construction. Rather than being utilized to substitute skilled workers, Matt opines, technology will be used to supplement humans, but will always require oversight and/or human interaction.
