This morning, Building Ventures announced that it closed a $53 million round of fundraising. The early-stage investor is dedicated to the built world, and will be pouring its resources into startup companies producing innovative, sustainable solutions that will push the industry forward. The company was founded by Jesse Devitte and Travis Connors, who both boast a large swath of industry experience.
“This really is an expansion of the work we’ve been involved in over the last decade,” Devitte told BuiltWorlds in an exclusive interview earlier this year. “It's really all about investing in and supporting the startups and entrepreneurs working towards a better built world. That's our mission at the end of the day.”
As this news breaks today, BuiltWorlds is excited to announce that Devitte will be sitting speaking at our Venture Chicago Conference on April 4, 2019. He will be sitting down with Journalist Jim Lichtenwalter for a Fireside Chat, which will certainly cover today’s exciting news and the future of Building Ventures as it begins to invest in exciting solutions for the AEC industry. Venture Chicago is exclusively for BuiltWorlds Members and you can apply to attend here.
Devitte has been part of the BuiltWorlds conversation since the very beginning. In fact, our archives are dotted with appearances from him over the years. With today’s announcement in mind, we wanted to take a moment to recall some of the great insights he’s provided us. Here are three pieces of BuiltWorlds content featuring Devitte:
- Right after Building Ventures was announced, Devitte sat down with BuiltWorlds for an extensive Q&A about the venture fund’s purpose and goals. Devitte laid out his hopes and also gave an inside look at his view on the investment market and strategies.
- Check out this video featuring Devitte, during this tenure at Borealis, talking a little about his background and his work in the venture and built spaces.
- Devitte also spoke at our Venture Chicago Conference last year. Check out his keynote address, where he covered the possibilities surrounding smart cities.
