2021 BuiltWorlds Construction Tech Conference

Learn How Emerging Technology is Changing the Way We Build.

When

7.8.2021

Where

Hyatt Lodge Oakbrook 2815 Jorie Blvd Oakbrook, IL 60523

With Special Thanks to The BuiltWorlds Catalyzers: Committed to a More Digitally Enabled Industry

7/8 2021 9am CT. Previously known as our Projects Conference, we covered the topic in three parts: preconstruction and estimating, project oversight and business intelligence, and smart job sites. Additionally, we hosted a separate conference to explore advanced equipment and robotics. However, these topics have increasingly converged, and so this year, we are going to look holistically at how technology is influencing the way we build – from pre-construction through construction functions, and from the office as well as the field. It will be a lot to cover in two days, and, with so much happening, it will surely be an exciting event.

Opening Keynote: Bottom-Up Transformation: How To "Do" Innovation in Construction

The construction industry has unique challenges that differentiate it from other industries. The nature of the project lifecycle and our reliance on large field workforces makes implementing change particularly difficult. Using organizational tools that have helped Top ENR contractors rapidly build and scale new innovation programs, Nate Fuller will discuss what large organizations can do right and how to accelerate existing efforts in order to deliver lasting change through field change agents.

Presenter:
Nate Fuller, Managing Director, Placer Solutions

Lessons Learned with Integrations and Implementations

Adding new technologies to an organization is always exciting at the point of concept. Integrating them with existing technologies and instilling the new processes in the workflows of the various teams impacted, is typically where the growing pains are heavily felt. In this session, we will dive into some of the key points that need to be addressed within your implementation strategy.

Moderator:
Christian Burger, President, Burger Consulting Group

Presenters:
Weston Tanner, Director of Construction Technology and Innovation, Graycor
Brad Adams, Director of Information Technology, Graycor

11:40 AM – 12:10 PM

Accelerated Transformation

The construction industry is changing at an accelerated pace. Mixed digital and physical environments, automated workflows, robotics, AI-based processes and changes in enabling technologies indicate a significant transformation impacting quality, productivity, and safety. This session will review the major technological trends, the synergy between them, and the potential impact on the construction industry's future.

Presenter:

Smart Tools – Delivering Connectivity for Oracle’s Innovation Lab

As Oracle set out to build the first Construction Innovation Lab in Deerfield, Il, they organized a group of partners to deliver on their vision. Milwaukee Tool, known for their continuous delivery of disruptive innovation, was happy to partner with Oracle. In this session, we’ll explore Oracle’s mission and vision for the Construction Innovation Lab, and discuss the use of Milwaukee Tool’s smart tool lineup, powered by One-Key, to deliver both productivity and data, in building towards a more connected jobsite. The highlight of this session is an opportunity to get hands on with Milwaukee’s technology used on site at the lab.

Presenters:
Andy Lambert, Group Program Manager, Milwaukee Tool
Frank Malangone, Senior Director of Product and Industry Strategy, Oracle

1:55 PM – 2:25 PM

Real-Time Data Collection and Implementation

Real-time data in construction gives project managers consistent, accurate data, and reduces the guesswork typically involved. That same guesswork leads to poor decision-making entirely based on outdated information, further setting back construction projects. When project managers don’t have the most accurate information they can make mistakes that dramatically reduce a project’s profit. Hence real-time data is a crucial step for all companies to make. Adding real-time data to the management mix ensures the management team makes efficient and productive decisions that will benefit every project.

Moderator:
Randy Duetsch, Clinical Associate Professor, University of Illinois

Connected Worker Tech in Construction: Opportunity and Obstacles with Wearable IoT for Safety and Productivity gains

Connected jobsites are the future, but how we’ll get there is still being hotly debated across the industry. Connected worker solutions are proving to be a pillar of digital transformation efforts for their ability capture real-time, dynamic site, equipment and worker data for productivity, efficiency and safety. But deployments are not without challenges – from worker acceptance to connectivity. In this session, with Daniel Stone, head of innovation for Barton Malow and Rony RoyChoudhury, COO of Guardhat will discuss a recent pilot of the Guardhat connected worker solution at the under-construction Wayne County Criminal Justice Center in Detroit, MI. They will detail project success and pitfalls, as well as the impact expanded use of wearable IIoT can bring to construction sites of tomorrow.

Presented by:
Daniel Stone, Head of Innovation, Barton Malow
Brian Eagan, Sales Director, Guardhat

3:25 PM – 4:25 PM
