Europe is home to some of the world’s greatest structural wonders, including London’s Tower Bridge stretching across the River Thames and the Eiffel Tower punctuating Paris’ skyline. Next week, members of the BuiltWorlds staff jet off to Europe and meet with some of the continent’s most exciting companies, projects and individuals propelling the built industry forward. Spanning from June 25 to 28, the Europe Road Trip stretches from London to Paris and includes an exciting lineup of meet-ups, tours and panels.
Isabel Singer and Nick Durham kick things off on Monday with a tour of London’s Kings Cross district, which will be led by Argent Realty. The area has undergone a massive transformation in recent years and is one of Europe’s most progressive city-scale development projects. That evening, BuiltWorlds will host a Cities Meet-Up at BuroHappold’s London office. The event includes a panel covering big data’s growing role in city design and smart infrastructure. Moderated by Microdesk’s Director of Consulting Services Lukasz Adamik, the panel features experts such as Shrikant Sharma, BuroHappold’s Group Director of Smart Space, and Elaine Trimble, Siemens’ Director of Urban Infrastructure.
After Isabel and Nick visit other exciting UK companies including 3D Repo and Pilabs, the trip then hops across the English Channel to Paris, where the second BuiltWorlds Meet-Up will be held on June 27 at ESTP Paris’ Executive Education center. Following a keynote address by François Bastard, a senior associate at the Boston Consulting Group, a panel exploring France’s construction and infrastructure technology landscape will be held. Bastard will be joined by other experts such as David Vauthrin, the Co-Founder and Chief Marketing Officer of FINALCAD, and Edouard Bidault, Fieldwire’s Europe Business Development Manager. The next day, Nick and Isabel will wind the trip down by visiting pioneering a force in the French built environment, the Bouygues Construction‘s innovation lab.
