Investors Give PlanGrid A Most Happy Birthday
by TRACY YOUNG, CEO, PlanGrid | Nov 22, 2015
PlanGrid celebrated its 4th birthday this month. I’m proud of what our team has built together: a product that our users love, and a culture of humanity.
We are a company that cares deeply about people who work in the construction industry. We believe that builders are some of the hardest working people in the world, and that they deserve good software. Every minute PlanGrid saves our users in the field equates to another minute they can spend with their families.
We’ve accomplished a lot since 2011. PlanGrid is now the largest digital blueprint repository in the world, with over 30 million sheets of construction documents in our cloud, and we’ve helped build over 300,000 construction projects. Our construction clients are only just beginning to see what’s possible through our software platform. Despite that, we’ve only made a small step forward, so there is still a lot of work to do.
To ensure that PlanGrid becomes the mobile platform that all construction projects use, we recently took $40 million in Series B funding from Tenaya Capital, Sequoia, Founders Fund, YC Continuity, and Northgate. As always, our goal is to create great software so that builders can focus on their real work—building.
Fun times ahead: The growing crew at PlanGrid is all smiles this Thanksgiving after new investors arrived with gifts.
To everyone who has supported us in these past four years: thank you. We would not be able to do this without you. You keep building, and we’ll keep the updates and improvements coming.
PlanGrid is coming to every jobsite in America and around the globe, and we can’t wait.
Based in San Francisco, the author is PlanGrid CEO and one of its four founders. Degreed in construction engineering management, she helped to build several hospitals prior to 2011. Today, Young jokes that she went from working for just one superintendent then to hundreds of thousands of them now at PlanGrid. This post originally appeared here.
