Kicking things off on Day 1 of BuiltWorlds Construction Technology, Tomislav Zigo, Chief Technology Officer at Clayco Inc, presented the attendees with a quote-driven keynote address titled “Ten”. This presentation detailed 10 dualities or dichotomies puzzling the construction technology industry. Zigo notes that these ten dualities are the most common friction points when discussing technology in the AEC space.
He began this presentation with a quote by notable scientist and science fiction writer, Arthur C. Clark, which acknowledges the potential of a construction which utilizes leading edge technologies: “Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic”.
Zigo then went on to highlight the ten sticking points in pushing the construction technology industry forward. A couple noteworthy are detailed below:
- Strategy vs Culture – These two facets of a business must be aligned in order to produce a valuable, quality product. When culture and strategy are not aligned, “Culture eats strategies for breakfast”.
