Verified Contributor Post: The Uptake – 360° Imagery & Progress Documentation

The Uptake is a series of videos that cover specific AEC technology. Each chapter will cover the problem statement and compares the different technology providers that solve for that specific problem.

In this debut of The Uptake, Dysruptek takes a deeper look at construction progress documentation using 360° cameras.

Construction Progress Documentation has been a challenge for many project managers, regular phone or 2D Cameras are not sufficient to convey the progress in a structured and consistent way. Moreover, project managers often spend an extensive amount of time trying to find a picture of a specific location in a specific timeframe. Using 360° cameras and platform, the process becomes much more seamless since all pictures are tagged on floor plan with multiple timestamps of the same location.

Part I explores the problem statement, what are 360° cameras and compares two of the best and more affordable cameras in the market to date: Insta360 One X and Ricoh Theta V
