Summit Europe 2019
When6.26.2019 at 8:00AM - 6.28.2019 at 5:00PM
The era of globalization is upon us.
The world is becoming increasingly smaller. With the aid of new technologies, AEC-RE companies are making intercontinental partnerships and growing like wildfire across the globe. So the question begs: How will your company thrive in our increasingly tech-driven globalized world?
First and foremost, you need to bolster your international network, particularly in North America and Europe. According to the KOF Globalization Index , the United States, Canada, England, France, and Germany are among the top globalized countries. At the BuiltWorlds Summit Europe 2019, we’re bringing together 100 of the most respected CEOs, executives, and strategists from across North America and Europe to help you foster the connections that will help you weather the storm of globalization.
Why Attend Summit Europe?

Julien Bourcerie, Head of Open-innovation, Bouygues Construction
Venture Funds and the Built World
Darren Bechtel, Founder & Managing Director, Brick & Mortar Ventures | Gonzalo Galindo, Head of CEMEX Ventures, CEMEX Ventures
Just ten years ago, there were two measly construction technology investments totaling $4.5 million. In 2018, we have breached the one billion invested dollars milestone. This panel will probe the investment strategies of AEC/RE investment funds and examine how new investments are changing our industry.
Building Technology Keynote
Innovations in Building Technology
Jamie Roche, CEO, Helix | Shrikant Sharma, Head of Smart Space, BuroHappold Engineering
Sensor-enabled smart buildings that know when they need cleaning, heating or cooling. Buildings that harness rainwater, use less and recycle more. Resiliency buildings that withstand disaster. Sustainable buildings made completely from environmentally friendly materials. The features of Buildings 2.0 are incredible and promising, improving the environment, the longevity of the building, and the lifestyle of the end user. On this panel, we will examine the systems that are revolutionizing and autonomizing the way we manage buildings, explore cutting-edge building materials, and analyze inventive building designs
Future of Design
As projects become larger and more complex, architecture and engineering firms need to adapt to meet increased demands. The panel will examine how some of the most prominent firms in the world develop and retain a talented workforce, approach business development, and ensure they deliver the best services to their clients.
Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence
Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning have historically been difficult to define. But their core, AI is broadly the concept of machines performing tasks in a “smart” way, while machine learning is a subsection of AI in which humans allow machines access to data in order for them to “learn” for themselves within a set of parameters. Panelists will explore the application of AI in construction.
Robotics, Modularization, and Prefabrication
Automation and robotics isn’t 10 years away. It’s here now. On this panel, we’ll engage with some of the earliest adopters of robots, modularization, and prefabrication.
Networking & Reception
Day 3 Schedule
Future of Construction and Development
Damian Farr, Europe Managing Director, DPR Construction
The tools we use to plan, execute, and collaborate on our projects are quickly evolving. From machine learning in scheduling, to wearables for safety monitoring, to project management systems, our projects are moving faster and costing less money to complete. On this panel, we will dive into the systems, techniques, and technologies that can help you more effectively plan, monitor, and oversee projects.
The Connected Jobsite
As projects become more complex, it becomes increasingly important to integrate different software tools and address discrepancies quickly to reduce project delays and cost overruns. During this conversation, panelists explore how integrated workflows enable one to easily assign discrepancies to team members. We will also explore how accurate measurements help bridge the physical and digital in order to deliver an instant ROI through specific case studies.
Toward Truly Smarter Cities
In recent years, master planning has become less about arriving at a complete solution that structures a city through various infrastructure components and more focused on developing flexible frameworks that can meet changing demands. As new urban technologies mature, it becomes possible to deploy them on increasingly broad scales and with growing effectiveness. This new approach helps cities become intelligent in order to meet the challenges of managing waste, water, energy, mobility, and infrastructure. At the same time, new technologies create new routes for financing large scale urban development projects. During this panel, we will explore how these approaches are being implemented in unique and potentially revolutionary projects.
