1. Mortenson recognized for its diverse workforce and community outreach
The Design-Build Institute of America recently awarded Mortenson, a national general contractor, the first ever Community Impact and Social Responsibility prize. The Design-Build Institute lauded Mortenson for collaborating with the Hyde park community on the University of Chicago’s Campus North Residential Commons. Greg Werner, Mortenson’s senior vice-president, was “thrilled to say we far exceeded our original project goals for a diverse workforce and minority- and women-owned business participation.”

2. IrisVR begins beta testing to make Prospect multiuser friendly
IrisVR’s Prospect is a software that converts 3D models of construction projects into virtual reality spaces that users can walk through. Prospect is now in beta testing for multiple users at one time.

3. StructionSite releases live chat feature
StructionSite, a digital jobsite documentation platform, now allows users to identify a specific point on a video of a jobsite and create a live chat regarding that point. The chat feature enables multiple project stakeholders to collaborate on solutions without being physically present on the construction site.

4. Ving praised by contractors for streamlining communications with stakeholders
George Davis, the owner of Probuilt Homes, recently adopted Ving, a video platform for providing and monitoring employee safety training. In a recent interview, Davis lauded Ving for helping him communicate more efficiently with clients, employees, and subcontractors. Davis utilizes Ving to prepare clients for site walk-throughs, to run safety trainings for his employees, and to specify client demands to subcontractors.

5. BusyBusy announces Activity Reports feature
BusyBusy, a jobsite tracking software for employees and equipment, can now instantly aggregate data and produce reports. The reports inform users of vital information such as the daily operating cost of employees or the number of hours workers utilized a certain type of equipment across all job sites.
